Round Pneumonia

Authors:
Jhon Camacho-Cruz, Daniela Guerrero-Sanchez

Abstract

A 4-year-old girl presented with dry cough and fever. Chest radiography revealed a rounded opacity in the left lower lobe, consistent with round pneumonia .a condition often seen in young children due to immature collateral ventilation pathways. Despite empirical treatment, the patient developed a pleural effusion. Further testing revealed adenovirus and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. She recovered fully after targeted antimicrobial therapy, with resolution on follow-up imaging.
