Clinical Characteristics of Pregnant Women with Covid-19 in Wuhan, China
Abstract
This study analyzed 118 pregnant women with Covid-19 in Wuhan, China (December 2019, march 2020), including 84 confirmed by PCR and 34 diagnosed via CT. Most (92%) had mild disease, while 8% developed severe symptoms (hypoxemia), with one requiring mechanical ventilation postpartum. Common symptoms were fever (75%) and cough (73%). Of 68 deliveries (58% of cases), 93% were cesarean sections, often due to Covid-19 concerns; 21% were preterm. No neonatal SARS-CoV-2 transmission was detected. The severe disease rate (8%) was lower than in China’s general population (15.7%), suggesting pregnancy does not exacerbate Covid-19 severity.
