Condylomata Lata
Abstract
This Images in Clinical Medicine case describes a 17-year-old girl from China diagnosed with condylomata lata, a manifestation of secondary syphilis. She presented with a 1-month history of itchy genital lesions and had a history of unprotected sex with multiple partners. Physical examination revealed smooth, gray-white papules and plaques on the vulva and inner thighs. Serologic testing confirmed Treponema pallidum infection. Intramuscular penicillin G benzathine was administered, and she was counseled on safe sex practices. HIV testing was negative. At her 1-month follow-up, the lesions had resolved, and her RPR titer had decreased from 1:16 to 1:8.
