Preeclampsia
Abstract
Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication affecting 2-4% of pregnancies globally, contributing to significant maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. This review explores the pathogenesis, prediction, prevention, diagnosis, and management of preeclampsia, emphasizing recent advances. Key risk factors include demographic characteristics, medical history, and physiological abnormalities. Preventive strategies such as low dose aspirin, calcium supplementation, and timed birth are discussed. The article also highlights the long term cardiovascular risks for women with a history of preeclampsia and the need for postpartum monitoring and lifestyle interventions.
