Cancer-Associated Hypercalcemia

Abstract

This Clinical Problem Solving article discusses the diagnostic and management approach to a patient with hypercalcemia found to be associated with an underlying malignancy. The case highlights mechanisms of cancer associated hypercalcemia, including parathyroid hormone related protein secretion and osteolytic metastases, and reviews therapeutic interventions like hydration, bisphosphonates, and management of the underlying cancer.
