Receipt of mRNA Vaccine against Covid-19 and Myocarditis
Abstract
This editorial discusses myocarditis as a rare but notable side effect associated with the BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 vaccine, particularly in young males. Drawing on two retrospective studies from Israel, the piece emphasizes that most reported cases were mild and self-resolving, with only a few requiring advanced care. It critiques diagnostic limitations due to the absence of routine biopsies and highlights the importance of distinguishing vaccine-associated myocarditis from naturally occurring or virus-induced variants. While acknowledging the low risk, the article advocates for continued surveillance and responsible communication to mitigate vaccine hesitancy and support informed public health decisions.
