Evaluation of Acute Adverse Events after Covid-19 Vaccination during Pregnancy
Abstract
This study evaluates the incidence of acute adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination in pregnant women compared to unvaccinated controls. Conducted across eight Vaccine Safety Datalink sites, the retrospective matched cohort analysis included 45,232 pregnant women who received one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Results showed that medically attended acute adverse events were rare (<1%), with the most common being fever, malaise or fatigue, and local reactions. No significant increase in serious adverse events (e.g., cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, Guillain Barré syndrome) was observed in vaccinated women. The findings support the safety of COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy.
