Gastric Adenocarcinoma and Proximal Polyposis of the Stomach
Abstract
This clinical image report details a 42-year-old woman diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma and proximal polyposis of the stomach (GAPPS), an inherited cancer-predisposition syndrome linked to a germline variant in the APC gene. Endoscopic examination revealed numerous polyps in the gastric corpus and a cancerous lesion along the greater curvature. Histopathology confirmed fundic gland polyps and well-differentiated adenocarcinoma. The patient declined total gastrectomy and underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection. Six months of follow-up showed no recurrence. The case underscores GAPPS as a distinct clinical entity and the role of surveillance in patients opting for non-surgical management.
