Cervical Cancer
Abstract
This comprehensive review details the global burden, risk factors, virology, prevention, diagnosis, staging, and treatment strategies for cervical cancer. It emphasizes the role of high-risk HPV infection in pathogenesis, the importance of early detection through screening and vaccination, and discusses evolving management approaches for early-stage and locally advanced disease. Advances include updated guidelines for radical and fertility-preserving surgery, chemoradiation with or without immunotherapy, and emerging systemic therapies for recurrent or metastatic cases, including checkpoint inhibitors and antibody-drug conjugates. The article also highlights disparities in global access to care and proposes strategies to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health concern.
