Smart Home Sweet Smart Home": An Examination of Smart Home Acceptance
Abstract
This study proposed a comprehensive model to examine smart home acceptance in private settings, exploring how individual values, technology performance perceptions, and attitudinal beliefs influence use behavior and satisfaction. Using structural equation modeling on a sample of 422 participants in the USA, the study found that hedonic and utilitarian values strongly affected perceived task-technology fit. Privacy and financial risks were not significant. Task-technology fit played a central role in predicting perceived usefulness, ease of use, and satisfaction. The study contributes to smart home literature by focusing on pervasive technology within strictly private environments.
