Necrobiosis Lipoidica
Abstract
This case report describes a 43 year old woman with an 8 year history of asymptomatic yellow brown plaques on her shins, diagnosed as necrobiosis lipoidica. Despite no history of diabetes, histopathological analysis revealed necrobiosis, granulomatous inflammation, and collagen degeneration. The patient’s lesions resolved spontaneously over time, highlighting the variable course of this condition, which is often associated with diabetes but can occur independently. The article underscores the lack of standardized treatments and the potential for self-resolution.
