Dissecting Cellulitis of the Scalp

Abstract

   A 47-year-old man presented with a chronic, painful scalp rash unresponsive to antibiotics. Examination revealed multiple tender, purulent nodules with hair loss, consistent with dissecting cellulitis of the scalp. a chronic inflammatory condition linked to follicular occlusion. Lab results were negative for HIV and syphilis. Topical glucocorticoids and oral doxycycline led to clinical improvement within four weeks.
