Beyond Diversity — Time for New Models of Health

Authors:
Jane L. Delgado, Ph.D.

Abstract

This perspective argues for a shift away from traditional race-based models of health toward frameworks that integrate genomics, social determinants, and broader cultural context. The article critiques how longstanding models fail to explain positive health outcomes among Hispanic populations and advocates for data driven, individualized approaches. It highlights the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and culturally aware data interpretation to inform equitable healthcare.
