Central Nervous System Tuberculomas
Abstract
A 57-year-old man with a history of pulmonary tuberculosis presented with neurological symptoms including neck pain and right-hand tingling. Imaging revealed a miliary pattern in the lungs and multiple peripherally enhancing nodules throughout the brain and spinal cord hallmarks of central nervous system tuberculomas. Though cerebrospinal fluid studies were normal, sputum cultures confirmed Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The patient was diagnosed with CNS tuberculomas secondary to miliary TB. Treatment with antituberculous therapy and dexamethasone led to complete symptom resolution by 18-month follow-up.
