Pemphigoid Gestationis

Authors:
Paolo Agostinis, Roberta M. Antonello

Abstract

This case report describes a 30 year old pregnant woman who presented at 34 weeks of gestation with a pruritic rash that progressed to confluent papules and blisters on her abdomen, thorax, and limbs. Laboratory tests revealed elevated anti bullous pemphigoid 180 antibodies (>200 U/mL), and skin biopsy confirmed pemphigoid gestationis, a rare autoimmune blistering disorder of pregnancy. The patient was treated with systemic glucocorticoids, leading to resolution of the rash within 3 months. She delivered a healthy infant at 38 weeks without complications. The report highlights the clinical presentation, diagnostic workup, and management of this condition.
